I have a collection of 81 professionally recorded songs (54 for Female and 27 for Male Artists). I also compose the music for the movies. Two of my songs: BROKEN DREAMS and ALONE are featured as part of the movie: Unfit Misfit, by 3 Angels Power Inc. a movie company from Canada. The last year a spin off movie: Summer Rewind and they have featured my songs in the movie as follows: Summer Rewind (theme song); EMOTIONS, IT IS TIME; THE STRONGEST ALWAYS SURVIVE; THE MIDNIGHT HOUR; MOONLIGHT ROMANCE (Instrumental); I'VE TO GO (Instrumental). For the movie Summer Rewind, also, I have composed the background music for the movie. Recently 3 Angels Power INC. started filming third full length movie: Chi Ann Blaze Of Fury, and I was commissioned to write the theme song for the movie: Fear Those Who Turns Love To Hate. The management team are planning to use some of my other songs for the movie, either a full version or Instrumental music as a background for the movie. How long have you been creating songs?
Rizo Balic: More than 20 years! What inspired you to get started?
Rizo Balic: Since early age in the primary school, I loved to write poems. While I was studying at the Political Science University – Belgrade, I was introduced to the Western Music, and had a chance to listen music from ABBA, Beatles, Elton John etc. Unfortunately, due to Education System in Former Yugoslavia, I was not able to learn or speak the English language at all. After completing my studies in June 1988, I was aware that the political situation in Former Yugoslavia (after the death of the President Tito) were getting worsen day by day and the Civil War was eminent to happen any day. I knew that the life in my country or birth (Former Yugoslavia) it is going to change forever, so, I thought the best way forward for me it will be to leave and look for a new life in England and that is what I did at the begin of August 1988. The rest it is a history. How would you describe your sound/style?
Rizo Balic: Cross between Pop and Soul. Majority of my lyrics are very emotional with a strong message about love, life and other relevant themes and subjects. Who are your current inspirations in the music industry?
Rizo Balic: As a Songwriter: White Button (Yugoslavian Rock Band), ABBA, Beatles, Elton John, Madonna, Britney Spears. As a Composer: John Williams How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
Rizo Balic: In the past when I used to write the lyrics, often I just need to read a headlines in the newspaper to get an idea what I am going to write about. Here it is an example: For the song: DEPRESSED RECLUSE. At the begin of September 2007, with my wife Christine, we were on a holiday in Cyprus. Usually while I am on a holiday, I like to write the lyrics, and to have an idea what to write about, I glanced trough a Daily Mirror newspaper and there inside the newspaper, I read an article written by Gary Barlow about his state of the mind after his band: Take That were split up. Among other words inside the article were words: “Depressed Recluse”. After reading the story about Gary Barlow’s desire for band’s revival, it was enough idea to write the lyrics. So, I wrote the lyrics and after returning home from the holiday, I have composed the music and then send it to my business partner: Diamond Studios, who has recorded almost all of my songs, they have recorded a vocal version of the song. The rest it is the history. For all music fans, please, feel free to visit my enclosed links at the end of the interview to find out more about the song: DEPRESSED RECLUSE, to have some better ideas about the subject of some of my songs’ lyrics I have wrote. What are you currently working on?
Rizo Balic: It all depends on Songtradr request. As a Composer, I am a professional member with Songtradr, a Music licensing opportunity. Often (almost daily) they are advertising a new music projects from around the world with all relevant details about the song details such as: Music Style, Length of the song, Moods, Tempos, etc. If I find any of current or “short deadline” opportunities, that I am confident enough to record a new version in my “home recording studio” I get to it at once. Sometimes, I do record 2-3 songs in a day, while other time, it is a few weeks before I records a song. Also, if I am not working on new song/songs, I am doing a promotion campaign, promoting my music on Spotify or any other relevant vendors and music opportunity providers. What did you buy with your first check off music?
